Joshua Powell - Audio Engineer
In 2007 I founded and built the Map Rom Recording Studio. I designed and built out the space, built custom microphones, consoles, compressors, and refurbished analog and digital recording equipment to create a space accessible to artists and freelance engineers. For almost two decades the space played a pivotal role in Portland’s Indie music scene where hundreds of bands came to record and mix their albums.
I am proud of the community space that the Map Room became where artists came to find the right tones and support for their musical projects.
Artists such as: Band of Horses, Other Lives, Alela Diane, Anna Tivel, Chris Pureka, Blue Cranes, Granddaddy, Aminé and so many more made recordings in The Map Room. After over 16 years it was time to turn the page. The building was sold and I was ready for new things. After two years in Alaska following some dreams I now call The Netherlands home and am excited to find the ways I can support the music community here.
Let’s Work Together
I’m always looking to do new creative and technical work. Give me a call or send me a message.
